Why Street Photography?

I have two reasons for shooting street (at least).

1. When I was in my 20’s, the vast majority of my photos were of people. My 30’s brought grad school and I drifted away from photography. In my 40’s, I got back into photography. None of my photos had people in them. Street is my way to force people back into my pictures.

2. Gary Winogrand said he took pictures to see what things look like in a photograph. I take photos to get better at taking photos. Street requires instant evaluation of light and composition. It is like playing speed chess.

Welcome to HackPhotogBlog!

My goal is to share thoughts, both original and found, on photography in general and street photography in particular. I will toss in a little Jazz occasionally. You can also expect some off topic posts, just because I want to say something.

My first few posts will be stuff moved from my Tumbler account.
